Ratna Debnath, the mother of RG Kar rape-murder victim, has won the Panihati constituency. Debnath had made a political debut in the 2026 elections on a BJP ticket. Her defeat has toppled TMC's rule from Panihati after 15 long years.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost the Bhabanipur Assembly seat to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari. The shocking result from her home constituency comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party has swept the West Bengal Assembly elections, ending the Trinamool Congress’s 15-year-long tenure in the state.
 

While celebrating BJP's performance in Assembly elections, PM Narendra Modi stated that “gangotri se gangasagar tak, kamal hi kamal khila hua hai”.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who is trailing from Bhabanipur, has stated that she was kicked and pushed inside the counting room. 

This comes after BJP accused Banerjee of entering the counting room without a valid ID card. Meanwhile, the CM also called BJP's victory in Bengal “immoral", adding that she will seek a counter mandate.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trailing from Bhabanipur seat by a margin of 563 votes after 16 rounds of counting of votes. BJP's Suvendhu Adhikari is leading, having amassed 53,932 votes so far.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has clinched victory from Nandigram constituency, defeating TMC candidate Pabitra Kar. Notably, Adhikari has been holding the seat since 2016.

PM Narendra Modi, speaking on the exemplary performance of BJP in Assam and West Bengal, said that he shares the joy of every BJP worker. “Today is a special day in many ways. It marks the announcement of a bright future for the country. This is a day of trust. Trust in India's great democracy. Trust in the politics of performance... Trust in the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’,” he added.
 

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi has arrived at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi to celebrate the party's performance in Assam and West Bengal elections.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has won the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni seat by more than 7,000 seats.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed BJP's historic performance in West Bengal, saying that the people of Bengal have “taught such a lesson to the infiltrators and their sympathizers that the parties indulging in the politics of appeasement will never be able to forget.”

In a post on X, Shah wrote, “With the hopes and aspirations with which Bengal has expressed this trust in the leadership of Shri Modi ji, we will certainly fulfill them.
