After Dharmendra's Rushed And Private Funeral, Deol Family Makes An Attempt To Pacify Upset Fans

The Deol family has sent out an open invite to all Dharmendra's fans and will celebrate his birth anniversary in a grand manner with the people who made him the beloved star that he was.

After backlash over a private and hurried funeral of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at his residence in Mumbai, the Deol family, in an attempt to pacify upset fans, have announced a special get together on the occasion of his birth anniversary. The event will be a "celebration of the life of Dharmendra" and will be held at the late star's farmhouse in Khandala, where he lived out most of his final years as he retreated from limelight. The Deol family has sent out an open invite to all Dharmendra's fans and will celebrate his birth anniversary in a grand manner with the people who made him the beloved star that he was.

On December 7, Dharmendra would have turned 90. The family and fans wished for the actor to live another year but his health deteriorated in the past few months. He was in and out of hospitals for treatment. Earlier, in October end, Dharmendra was admitted at Breach Candy Hospital after he complained of breathing issues. However, after a few days, the Deol family got him discharged and opted for home treatment. The Sholay star breathed his last on November 24.

What shocked many was how an actor of such stature was given a hurried and a private send-off, even without state honours. Barring popular film industry celebs, heavy security at the cremation site blocked access of the public and fans and denied them antim darshan of Dharmendra. Fans who had flocked to witness Dharmandra's final journey were left disappointed with how his farewell turned out.

Now, sensing the angry mood of the fans, the Deol family has announced its decision to host a special get together in memory of Dharmendra on December 8 in Khandala. The event will begin at 12.30 pm and will give fans the opportunity to not only offer their condolences to the family but celebrate the lasting legacy Dharmendra has left in his wake.
