New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association ( IMA ) will organize a fast on 15th October on Tuesday in solidarity with the doctors who are currently holding fast unto death in protest against the rape and murder of trainee a doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
"Across the country, IMA will hold a dawn-to-dusk fast from 6 AM to 6 PM on Tuesday, 15th October 2024. IMA will coordinate with RDAs and support their local actions," the IMA stated.
IMA has also urged all office bearers of IMA and resident doctors all over the country to join the fast.
"Dear Doctor, Young doctors in Kolkata are engaged in a fast unto death, fighting for their legitimate demands. Today marks the ninth day of their fast, with three already hospitalized. The movement has gained public support. The IMA has appealed to the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee , to meet their demands. IMA National President Dr. RV Asokan has visited the fasting doctors and the leaders of the movement," read an official statement from the IMA.
