New Delhi: Senior Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury triggered a debate after she brought a dog, which she claimed to be a stray, into Parliament premises on Monday as  the Winter Session of the Parliament commenced today (December 1, 2025). Reportedly, Chaudhary said that she rescued the puppy while on her way to Parliament in the morning. She witnessed a scooter-car collision and noticed the puppy wandering near the road. To ensure the dog did not get hurt, she brought it along in her car.

She added, "Is there any law? I was on my way. A scooter collided with a car. This little puppy was wandering on the road. I thought it would get hit by the wheel. So I picked it up, put it in the car, came to Parliament, and sent it back. The car left, and so did the dog. So what's the point of this discussion?", as per news agency ANI.

Commenting further, Renuka Chowdhury said, "It's such a tiny dog and it won't bite anyone. She went on to say, "The real ones who bite are sitting in Parliament. They run the government. We take care of a mute animal, and this has become a big issue and a topic of discussion. Does the government have nothing else to do? I sent the dog home and told them to keep it at home... We don't talk about those who sit in Parliament and bite us every day".

As ruckus and sloganeering ruled the first day of the Winter Session of the Parliament, Renuka Chowdhury also hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'drama' remarks at Opposition that he made earlier. She added will the "drama master teach us" and stated we need to learn from him about doing drama. She trained guns at the Prime Minister and said he has now become a psychologist, consultant, thereby added another qualification, as per news reports.

Meanwhile, following the Minister's move to bring dog to the Parliament building, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal called for strict action against the MP. She added her action reflected misuse of priviledges granted to MPs.

PM Modi Speech

PM Modi's speech ahead of the Winter Session of the Parliament stating the focus of the Opposition should be on ‘delivery and not drama’ did not go too well with the Opposition and drew sharp reaction from the Opposition. The PM also taunted the Opposition by stating he could offer tips on how they should carry out their official responsibilities. PM Modi said the MPs "should change their strategy" now. The Prime Minister added, "The game the Opposition have been playing for the past 10 years is no longer acceptable to the people. They should change their strategy. I am ready to give them a few tips."

Winter Session of Parliament

The Winter Session, which kicked off on December 1, saw repeated sloganeering and protests by Opposition MPs demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the country especially in Lok Sabha. The Opposition raised the slogan of "vote chor, gaddi chod" in the House, MP Sandhya Rai, sitting on the Speaker's chair, adjourned the House till 2 PM.
