On Wednesday, December 20, England leg-spinner Adil Rashid rose to the top of the T20I bowler rankings. Rashid Khan and Ravi Bishnoi, who had previously shared the top rank, were succeeded by the seasoned player. Rashid emerged as the top bowler with 715 rating points, bolstered by a respectable performance in England's ongoing Twenty20 International Series against the West Indies. He has taken seven wickets at an economy rate of 6.43 in four games, his best stats coming from 4-0-11-2 in the opening Twenty20 International at the National Cricket Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.

Meanwhile, Rashid was unable to get a bidder in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. Despite his base price of INR 2 crore when he registered for the auction, no team expressed interest in him. Rashid played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2023; however, the team later released him.
Rashid has been a part of 279 T20 matches, picking up 314 runs at an economy rate of 7.48 with eight four-wicket hauls to his name
