INS Mahe Commissioned: Indian Navy’s Lethal Anti-Submarine Warship Hits the Waters

India’s latest submarine hunter is officially in action. INS Mahe, the first of eight Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 24 November 2025. The compact vessel is 78 meters long, weighs 1,100 tonnes, and is highly manoeuvrable with water-jet propulsion, achieving speeds of up to 25 knots. Equipped with advanced indigenous sonar, torpedoes, ASW rockets, and mine-laying systems, INS Mahe is engineered to secure shallow coastal zones where large naval ships cannot operate. With nearly 80% indigenous components, it stands as a major milestone in Aatmanirbhar Bharat and naval modernisation.
