Russia has proposed a joint project with India to co-develop and manufacture a two-seat variant of the Su-57E, offering complete technology transfer for key systems. At the Dubai Air Show, a senior Rosoboronexport official said the plan could gradually evolve into licence-based production within India, enabling New Delhi to build major components independently and avoid risks related to sanctions or supply disruptions.
Moscow has further assured that India’s technical demands for the Su-57, including performance tweaks and design modifications, can be fully accommodated. The offer covers access to critical technologies such as advanced engines, optical systems, AESA radar, AI-based components, stealth design features, and modern weapons. It also includes long-term upgrade pathways through software and system enhancements, giving India the ability to customise or evolve future FGFA versions over time.
