Governor’s Rule Likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as PTI Protests Intensify for Imran Khan

As nationwide demonstrations continue in support of PTI leader and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Pakistan government is now considering imposing Governor’s Rule in PTI-governed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A federal minister described the move as a constitutional step reserved for situations of “absolute necessity,” pointing to “security and governance issues” in the province.

The development comes days after KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi held an overnight sit-in outside Adiala Central Jail in Rawalpindi, where Imran Khan is being held. Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik confirmed to the media that Governor’s Rule is under consideration, again citing “security and governance issues” as the justification.
