For the first time since June 2025, Israel launched an airstrike on Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, on November 23, 2025, killing Hezbollah commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai. He headed Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Unit, formed after Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon. According to the Israeli military, Tabatabai oversaw most Hezbollah units and was working to rebuild their war readiness against Israel.
The U.S. designated him a terrorist in 2016 and announced a $5 million reward for information leading to him.
