India and Russia marked a major milestone in their 25-year strategic partnership with a joint statement following talks between PM Modi and President Putin. Multiple agreements were finalised, covering fertilizers, temporary migration, and port connectivity, as both sides set a target to boost bilateral trade from $65 billion to $100 billion by 2030. The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in technology, joint manufacturing, and long-term economic growth.
Key initiatives highlighted include the Vladivostok–Chennai maritime link, Arctic shipping routes, and collaboration in clean energy. Both nations reaffirmed their unity on counterterrorism and the strength of their relationship across nuclear energy, digital innovation, and space. Talks also touched on a possible free trade deal with the Eurasian Economic Union and underscored that most transactions are already being conducted in national currencies.
