Adiala Jail Tension: KPK CM Reaching Tomorrow, PTI Sit-In Continues

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is scheduled to visit Adiala Jail tomorrow after several failed attempts to meet PTI founder Imran Khan. The visit follows the Islamabad High Court’s March 2025 order permitting approved visitors to meet Khan twice a week.

Tensions escalated when Imran Khan’s sisters were prevented from meeting him on November 25, triggering a 10-hour sit-in outside the prison. PTI leaders have accused police of mishandling Khan’s family members and party officials, while the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has also expressed concern over the incident.

PTI has now called for a larger sit-in outside Adiala Jail, urging supporters from KPK and Punjab to participate. Estimates suggest that 300 to over 1,000 people have already gathered near the jail. Heavy deployment of Punjab Police and Rangers remains in place, amid reports of restricted internet and mobile services across Islamabad, KP, and Punjab.
