Putin's India Visit: Rahul Gandhi Wanted To Meet Russian President, Blames Govt

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, has expressed his desire to see Russian President Vladimir Putin on his current tour to India, claiming that the BJP government is preventing him from doing so. BJP leaders and others have strongly criticized the remark, calling it political posturing amid Putin's hectic official agenda. 

According to government sources, the Ministry of External Affairs exclusively arranges meetings with officials; non-official interactions, like those with opposition individuals, are entirely up to the visiting party. This proves that the host government has no jurisdiction over such arrangements.
